Beit Ommar, Features, Hebron District, Soldier Violence »
On 10th of October a funeral procession burying the late Ihmid Abu Maria was attacked by Israeli soldiers. The cemetery in the village has been closed off by the Israelis for years. Large, heavy stones are partly blocking the entrance to the burial site.
As the mourners, this morning, tried to enter the cemetery occupation soldiers attacked the civilians with tear gas, sound grenades and rubber bullets. Some of the people were suffocating from inhaling gas.
These acts by the occupation forces are an attempt to limit the number of people participating in funerals. The Israelis partly succeed in this as people with heart diseases and people suffering from other kind of health problems no longer participate in funerals due … Continue reading
Beit Ommar, Features, Hebron District, Night Raid »
At 3 a.m. October 10th Israeli occupation forces entered the village of Beit Ommar and broke into the house of Jamil Al Alamy. The soldiers searched the family home and gave them an order for the son, Iyad Jamil Al Alamy, to meet at the military base in the colony of Gush Etzion. The son is 23 years old and he is currently studying at the Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron.
The occupation forces also went to the Safa area in Beit Ommar and they gave the same kind of order to Abdelkader Akhalil (50), Waael Abdul Hamid Akhalil (42) and two other men living in the same area. In total, five orders were given out this night.
