Israeli Forces Invade Beit Ommar Again After Funeral, Settler Hit-and-Run

28 December 2012

On December 24th a local resident of Beit Ommar died of natural causes. As we have reported before, funerals in Beit Ommar are often attacked by Israeli forces who are stationed at the entrance to the village, which is also the location of the town cemetery. On the same day, a settler bus hit and ran over a child from Beit Ommar, 13 year-old Mohammed Za’aqiq, who was taken to the hospital. The combination of the funeral and the settler hit-and-run were used by the Israeli military as a premise for entering the village and attacking its residents. Tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets and live ammunition were shot into the village. Several residents were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets.
