Weekly Demonstration in Beit Ommar

Today PSP organized a protest in the village of Beit Ommar. The protest is a weekly demonstration that PSP and the popular committee has been organizing for years. The protestors gathered outside of Karme Tzure settlement to demonstrate that they have the right to walk on their farmland, which was seized by Israel and now considered area C and is protected for the settlers by the Israeli Occupation Forces. Around 30 people gathered in front of the settlement and where confronted by around twenty soldiers almost out numbering the amount of protestors. Demonstration to Open Shuhada Street

Today in Hebron city there was a protest at Shuhada Street to be reopened for Palestinians. The street has been seized by Israeli Occupation Forces and is considered a closed military zone for more than eight-teen years, restricting the passage of Palestinian citizen. Despite the fact that the road has been closed to Palestinians for so long today more than 400 Palestinians accompanied by foreign activists gathered to demonstrate their right to pass through the road which leads to Ibrahim’s mosque. On February 18th,
Palestinian and international activists gathered from all over the West Bank in Hebron city to protest the administrative detention of young men and even children imprisoned without trial. The protest was in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike and particularly to recognize the hunger strike of Samar Issawi. Samar Issawi has been on hunger strike for more than 200 days, which may be one of the longest in history. Protests like this one, in solidarity with the hunger strikers have been erupting all across Palestine and resulting in violent clashes between protestors and Israeli Occupation Forces.
