On April 3th of 2013, the Israeli Occupation soldiers attacked the mourners of a funeral procession heading towards the cemetery at the entrance of the village. The Israeli soldiers began provoking mourners by shouting derogatory words, soldiers began throwing sound bombs and tear gas toward the mourners. Most of the mourners escaped the tear gas and violence from the Israeli soldiers.
Clashes began as usually erupting after a funeral procession and spread deeper into the village. The soldiers injured dozens of mourners with tear gas and more than fifteen people were shot and injured with rubber bullets. The most serious injuries were suffered by Arafat Isma’el Za’aqeq 38 year, Mahmoud Tahrer Saket Alami, Imad Abu Hashem, Thaer Abu Hashem, Ali Mahmoud Misleh Awad and others.
When the clashes intensified the Israeli Occupation Forces began to shoot live bullets at the Wadi Alshekh zone, in the centre of the town. The soldiers arrested Ihab Abu Fanous, 20 year old man and tear gassed inside the house of the director of Beit Ommar municipality, Habes Alami. The attack on the house lead to a fire, firefighters of Hebron municipality were brought and ambulance to treat the injured and extinguish the fire.
