Beit Ommar 12th October 2011: 18 year old Amir Ibrahim Khaled Sabarna was today shot in the shoulder by Israeli military forces, who used live ammunition in the main street of Beit Ommar. Ameer was shot as residents of Beit Ommar demonstrated in support of the prisoners hunger strike.

Video footage, shot by a local resident on his mobile phone, captures the scene immediately after the shooting, as a soldier pulls a wounded Amir to his feet and marches him toward the army watchtower at the entrance to the town, where he was then arrested.

One Arrested in Late-Night Army Raid in Beit Ommar

Beit Ommar 11th October 2011:

Yousef Ahmad Halil Abu Hashem was arrested along with his father, Ahmad Abu Hashem, at 02:30 Tuesday morning in the old city of Beit Ommar. Ahamd Abu Hashem is an active member of the popular committee in Beit Ommar.

The Israeli army came to Ahmad Abu Hashem’s house in the middle of the night with more than a hundred soldiers, seven jeeps and two buses, including three dogs. The soldiers used a ladder to climb the wall, and established a command point on the roof, after having broken open the front door of the house on the ground floor.

New Farmers’ Committee Planned in Beit Ommar

October 10th 2011: Beit Ommar farmers met today to discuss problems they are facing due to the occupation.
The agenda addressed many serious problems, including land confiscation, land rehabilitation and problems on land adjacent to settlements.

Soldiers Threaten to Use Sound Bombs in Beit Ommar

Today PSP joined the weekly demonstration in Beit Ommar.Residents of Beit Ommar walked towards the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur. About 20 soldiers had blocked the road and did not allow the demonstrators to continue to their fields.

Different entries where tried but soldiers blocked and finally threatened to use sound bombs. After some confrontations the demonstrators decided to retreat.

French Solidarity Activists Visit Beit Ommar

This week a group of visitors from a catholic organization in France visited Beit Ommar and Center for Freedom and Justice. PSP arranged a guided tour and explained the local situation to their interested guests, as well as the five illegal settlements that surround Beit Ommar.

New Bypass Road Planned on Beit Ommar and Shyoukh Land

New Bypass Road planned on Beit Ommar and Schoukh Land. Yesterday PSP visited the location for the new road. Watch the documentation here:

More than 800 dumums of Beit Ommar and Shwoukh land will be taken by the Israelies for a 8km bypass road, starting from Gush Etzion. The settlers have already built a watch tower on a hill top in the area – the first step to establish a new settlement. The road to the planned settlement on Halhoul land will go through Beit Ommar and Shwoukh land and join in on the route 60 by Halhoul.

Beit Ommar Demonstration – 1st October 2011

Saturday 1st October 2011: The weekly demonstration in Beit Ommar was peaceful. Residents from Beit Ommar marched through their own fields near the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur, accompanied by many internationals and Israeli activists.

The demonstrators were stopped by approximately 20 soldiers and several milliary jeeps.

The demonstrators carried banners in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, and encouraged countries to vote for justice, freedom, and a Palestine state 194.

Demonstration against land confiscation for new bypass road in Beit Ommar.

Friday September 30. : Residents of Beit Ommar demonstrated against recent received land confiscation orders. 800 dumums of Beit Ommar and Shwoukh land will be taken by the Israelies for a 8km bypass road, starting from Gush Etzion.
