Beit Ommar Protest in Solidarity with Lubna Hanash

This Saturday’s weekly demonstration in Beit Ommar, which was once again attended by residents and Israeli activists who have been protesting against Israeli Occupation and Apartheid since 2008, had a special message against the arbitrary and illegal killings of Palestinian civilians. In particular, residents carried signs in support of Lubna Hanash, who was killed by Israeli soldiers who opened fire on her while she stood in front of the Aroub Agricultural College, just down the road from Beit Ommar.

The demonstration, which was held near one of the Israeli settlements built on Beit Ommar land-Karmei Tsur. Israeli soldiers immediately attacked the protesters, attempting to … Continue reading

On January 15, Samir Awad, 16 years old, finished his final exams and went on what was a regular walk out of his school and a few yards behind it, where Israeli built its Annexation Barrier in 2004. Youth from Budrus often attack the barrier, a symbol of the continued illegal occupation of their lands. Samir was ambushed by Israeli soldiers on two sides. He was shot four times, twice in the legs, once in the chest and once in the head. It was, as our long-time friend and head of the popular committee of Budrus, Ayed “Abu Ahmed” Morar said, an assassination.
PSP and the popular committee of Beit Ommar has a close relationship with the … Continue reading

Weekly Demonstration in Al Ma'sara: Blocking the Main Road

On Friday 2th of November Palestinian, Israeli and international activists gathered for a non-violent demonstration in the village of Al Ma’sara, Bethlehem district.

The popular committee of Al Ma’sara had decided to show resistance against the Israeli occupation by blocking the main road used by both colonists and Palestinians.

As the demonstrators marched in the direction of the main road heavily armed soldiers from the Israeli occupation forces blocked their path. The demonstrators brought out their message of resistance by chants, slogans and writing banners in the street in front of the soldiers.

Several activists managed to pass by the soldiers and they continued towards the main road. A group of … Continue reading

The production of olive oil in Palestine is considered fundamental for Palestinian economy. For the majority of Palestinian families, especially in the north of the West Bank and in some areas in the south, olive trees have an economic and historic importance as these trees have been part of the Palestinian landscape for thousands of years.

The olive oil sector is one of the major agricultural incomes for Palestinians. Unfortunately, this sector has been facing many obstacles which have prevented it from developing.

The first problem is the removal of thousands of olive trees by the Israeli occupation due to the building of the segregation wall and the establishment of Israeli colonies throughout the West Bank. Colons’ activities include burning … Continue reading

Colonists Attacked Palestinian Land

On Monday morning, 15th of October, colonists cut plum trees close to the colony of Efrata. The trees belong to the farmer Abdalla Brigeet and the land area is between Efrata and Migdal Oz north of Beit Ommar. Both these colonies are built on Beit Ommar land.

A total of forty trees were cut this day, approximately one dunam of land. This is the first time Abdalla experience this kind of attacks from colonists.

Palestinian Minor Injured by Israeli Soldier in Demonstration

The weekly demonstration against the Israeli occupation in Beit Ommar was held on Saturday, 8th of September. Palestinian, Israeli and international activists joined together and marched in the direction of Karmei Tsur, the colony which is the biggest threat to the local Palestinian village.

The activists passed by the Palestinian greenhouse demolished by Israeli colonists from Karmei Tsur last week. As the participants walked towards the fence, which sparates the colony from Palestinian land that has not been occupied yet, several military jeeps with soldiers approached the area.

Both soldiers and activists were armed as usual; activists with banners, flags, cameras and chants and the soldiers with riot shields, tear gas … Continue reading
