Saturday, residents of Susiya, a small community in the South Hebron Hills, were joined by members of Combatants for Peace and Ta’ayush, along with other international and Israeli activists, in an attempt to build their own structure next to a newly-constructed building on their privately owned land which was placed there by a group of right-wing ideological settlers from the Susiya settlement. More than 200 Palestinians, Israelis, and internationals marched from Susiya, carrying metal poles and material in the colors of the Palestinian flag.

On Monday, the 4th of May, a Hebron resident’s arm was broken by two soldiers in the old city. 49-year-old Mohammad Hashem Borqan was on his way to pray at the Ibrahimi Mosque at around 5:30am. As he went through the checkpoint at the entrance to the mosque, two soldiers started beating and kicking him. Mohammad fell to the ground, breaking his arm. After the beating the soldiers ordered him to leave the area, and he was forced to take himself to the hospital.

On the 20 of April, around 500 Palestinian residents gathered at the Red Cross headquarters in Hebron to mark Prisoner’s Day. Prisoner’s Day in Palestine remembers all former and current political prisoners in Israeli jails. Prisoner’s day annually falls on the 17th of April, and demonstrations are held all over the West Bank and Gaza Many of the participants in the Hebron event carried pictures of loved ones in Israeli prisons.

14 April, 2009 Hebron. A little after 4pm, four or five masked settlers youth climbed onto the roof of the Awaywi family home and punctured six large metal water tanks in open sight of a manned Israeli military tower.
Basma Awaywi, the mother of the family, was on the outside passage way of the house when she saw the masked settlers on the roof, she was frightened and went into the house.

At 11:30 am, Sunday, 8 March, Israeli police detained 19 Palestinians who were trying to access their land near the village of Um al-Khayr. The police also arrested two Christian Peacemaker Teams members (CPTers) and charged them with obstruction and trespass, despite them being invited to the land by the Palestinian landowners.

equipment on Palestinian owned land near the Israeli settlement of Karmel – the settlement sits adjacent to Um al-Kheir. Palestinians and their international supporters held a vigil marking the 15th anniversary of the massacre of 33 Palestinians by an Israeli settler in the West Bank city of Hebron on Thursday.
The demonstration took place near the fence surrounding the present day settlement of Kiryat Arba. The families of the victims of the massacre were present, along with officials from the Palestinian People’s Party and foreign solidarity activists.
The demonstrators carried 33 banners with the names of the victims and lit 33 candles and carried torches.
In response to the vigil, Israeli soldiers declared the area a closed military zone, shutting down roads leading to the site of the demonstration, in the Wadi Al-Ihsein neighborhood of Hebron.

In the early hours on February 24th, Israeli Forces invaded the villages of Sa’ir and Idhna, in the Hebron district of the southern West Bank, and arrested four men. More than ten jeeps entered Idhna at approximately 12:30am. Around 40 soldiers surrounded the house of Hatem Mahmoud Al-Kharuf, and ordered all the family members outside. They then proceeded to search the house, turning everything upside down and smashing a bedroom wardrobe. Hebron – Ma’an – A young man was killed by Israeli bullets near the Tarqumiya checkpoint north west of Hebron Tuesday afternoon.
Eyewitness said the man was killed while holding his child, working on a farm. Four Israeli soldiers allegedly arrived on foot soon after, speaking to the man before beginning to beat him, covered his eyes with a cloth and took him away in a military jeep.
Out of the view of the media, the man was then killed, according to witnesses.
Israeli police disputed that report, claiming the man was attempting to steal a soldier’s weapon. He was shot and wounded seriously, but died en route to Hebron Hospital.

An Israel Defense Forces soldier has been arrested for allegedly shooting his gun while rioting with settlers in Hebron, it emerged on Tuesday.
The soldier, a member of the Givati infantry brigade who was off-suty at the time of the clashes, is a resident of the West bank settlement of Kiryat Arba, near Hebron.
He was arrested after the B’Tselem rights organization filmed him taking part in the clash between settlers and Palestinians. Ynet reported Tuesday that a military court has extended his remand.
According to B’tselem, the incident occurred on November 29, during the upsurge in violence that surrounded the eviction of the so-called “House of Contention” in Hebron.
