Participants in the Eighth International Conference of Bil’in popular resistance that started yesterday and continued into Friday confirmed the importance of sustained popular resistance against the Israeli occupation.
The conference was attended by a number higher-level political Palestinian officials, including the Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Rami Al Hamd Allah, the previous Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad, Mahmoud Al Aloull-a member of the Central Committee of Fatah, the Governor of Ramallah/Al-Bireh Laila Ghannam, and several members of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Legislative Council, who were joined by representatives of the national and Islamic forces. On the 20th of May 2013 the Israeli occupation forces stormed Beit Ommar town and they were searching for something in the farm lands and houses using dogs and automatic machines “some of these house belongs to Jamal Hasan” the Israeli occupation forces were looking for his sons Rabe’ 17 years old and Malik 15 years that they are ex-prisoners and the house of Yaser Mohammad Zaqeeq looking for his son Ahmad 19 years old ex-prisoner, but the IOF didn’t find any of the youths.

On the 13th of May 2013 at 3:30am, a military force about fourteen soldiers stormed the area of Abu Hashem’s family, they searched the area by dogs for more one hour, after that the moved to the down town, while they moving before trapping the house of the former Mayor Nasri Sabarna they were shooting fire, tear gas and sound bombs.
Where some of the soldiers climbed some nearby rooftops overlooking the home of Nasri Sabarna, after that the IOF and the Israeli intelligence stormed the house of Mr. Nasri, they start searching the house and outside the house, the children were crying, the women were screaming.

On Friday 10th of May 2013, twenty people were injured in a clashes in the town of Beit Ommar between the IOF and the people of Beit Ommar, including two head injury and three injury moved to the hospital in Hebron, seventeen of them were treated in the field.

Friday 26th of April the Popular Committee of Beit Ommar, PSP, members of the Women Committee together with international and Israeli activists organized their weekly demonstration near the settlement of Karmei Tzur.
The demonstrators had prepared one hundred balloons filled with helium. The activists made a parade, chanting slogans and carrying Palestinian flags and the balloons to the scene. Written messages with names of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails were attached to the balloons and released into the air.

On the afternoon of April 19th violent clashes erupted between Beit Ommar youth and the Israeli Occupation Forces. The clashes took place close to the central market and the cemetery in the village of Beit Ommar and lasted for several hours.
The soldiers shot a lot of tear gas leaving dozens of people suffocating. The IOF also used rubber bullets and several people were injured because they were shot. Two persons were brought to the hospital with serious injuries; one person shot in his neck and the other person was shot in the hand that left him with a broken bone. On the 17th of April, settlers from the settlement of Kiryat Arba in Hebron city attacked the car of Ibrahim Khader Alama (36) at the entrance of Beit Ommar. The settlers started to destroy his car and threatened him with violence. The group was made up of four armed settlers, who shot into the air several times with live ammunition. Ibrahim was able to escape to one of the nearby houses.
The Israeli Occupation Forces and the Israeli Police arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, the settlers escaped in their cars. The IOF and Israeli Police did not actively pursue the settlers and the settlers were able to get away.

In the early morning of Wednesday April 17th, soldiers from the Israeli Occupation Forces entered the village of Beit Ommar. At 2.30 a.m., they surrounded the house of Mohammed Ahmad Abu Maria and his family.
The soldiers searched Mohammed’s house for two hours and destroyed many household items belonging to the family. After the search, the soldiers beat Mohammed before they arrested him.
Mohammed is only twenty-two years old, but has already spent three years and two months in Israeli prisons. He was released from prison two months ago and had just recently applied to continue his university studies at Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron.

Member of PSP and Beit Ommar Popular Committee joined other non-violent demonstrators in the street on Friday April 12th, 2013 in the village of Nabi Saleh, located 20 kilometres North West of Ramallah in the West Bank. The village has organized weekly demonstrations in Nabi Saleh since December of 2009 in order to protest the confiscation of the village’s land and freshwater springs by Israeli settlers.
The demonstrators, which included village residents, international activists and Israeli peace activists, marched to a spring located on Palestinian land that was illegally confiscated by Israeli settlers from the Halamish settlement.
