On Saturday, May 26th, 2012, locals together with more than 35 Palestinian, Israeli and international activists (from the USA, Canada, Britain, France, Italy, and Chile, amongst others) built a third single story prefabricated building in the village of Um Faqara (Al Mufaqara, South Hebron Hills). Most of the walls of the new house were finished. The event in Um Faqara has become a weekly occurrence following the erecting of a new mosque and a house in previous weeks. On Friday, March 9th, 2012, the funeral took place for the martyr Zakariah Jamal Abu Aram, who was killed on Thursday by Israeli soldiers in Yatta (South Hebron hills). The Popular Peaceful Resistance Committee participated in the funeral to offer emotional support to the family and to coordinate activities in solidarity with both the family and the town to protest the crime. Over 30,000 people attended the funeral, chanting slogans calling for the reinforcement of peaceful resistance in Palestine. On Thursday, March 8th, 2012, a Palestinian resident of the southern West Bank, Zakariah Jamal Mohammad Abu Aram, was killed by Israeli soldiers. At approximately 4:30pm, over 100 Israeli soldiers entered the town of Yatta in an attempt to re-arrest Khaled Shawamra, one of the Palestinians who were released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange. People came out to block the street to prevent the soldiers from making the arrest, and the soldiers began shooting in the street and at the surrounding houses. Mohammad was shot and pronounced dead at the Abu al-Hasan al-Qasem Hospital. Many others were injured by rubber bullets and live ammunition, and at least one was taken into Israeli custody. On Saturday January 21, 2012, the Popular Committee in Beit Ommar organized its weekly protest in coordination and cooperation with the Popular Committee of Yatta, the Palestine Women’s Struggle Committee, and supported by Israeli and international solidarity activists. The demonstration was held for the first time in from of the Tunnel checkpoint, along the road connecting the city of Hebron with Jerusalem. Tunnel and connecting road is prohibited for use by Palestinians, and is part of Israel’s wider apartheid infrastructure in the West Bank. About 90 people, a large number of them Palestinian women, arrived at the entrance to the tunnel and began playing football.

Friday October 7th: Following friday prayers, the popular Committee in Yatta led a demonstration against the theft of their land by Israel. Along with residents and land owners from Yatta, PSP joined Palestinians, Israeli and international activists, in walking to the demolished wells and houses belonging to inhabitants of Yatta.
As protesters marched through Yatta olive groves, the demonstration was halted by Israeli military forces, who attempted prevented the demonstrators from marching through their own fields.
