Hebron Placed Under Lockdown After Shooting

HEBRON (Ma’an) — Israeli forces placed Hebron under a complete lockdown, causing traffic delays, after an Israeli was shot and killed in the West Bank city hours earlier.

Israeli soldiers closed the entrances and raided houses on Tariq Bin Ziyad and Jawhar streets, a Ma’an reporter said.

Soldiers forced males out of some homes at gunpoint and assembled them at a junction on Tariq Bin Ziyad street.

Near the junction, Israeli soldiers were also holding up an ambulance that was taking a woman in labor to hospital, a medic said.

Mass Invasion and Arrest Raid on Beit Ommar

On the 20th of June 2013 beginning around 3am, the Israeli occupation forces stormed Beit Ommar north of Hebron using three APC’s and more than 100 soldiers in a sustained invasion of the town. The forces were accompanied by dogs and intelligence officers who broke down doors of the homes they raided over the next four hours.

First, the IOF prevented residents from making their way to the mosque for morning prayers and then started to invade and ransack houses throughout the town. Youths of Beit Ommar Arrested by Israeli Occupation Forces

On the 13th of May 2013, the IOF arrested Saif Naseem Mahmoud Meseif Sabarna 18 years old, he is living on the street Jerusalem – Hebron.

The number of the people who arrested in Beit Ummar this day is tow people, Saif Naseem Mahmoud Meseif Sabarna and Ammar Mohammed Mahmoud Alami 19 years old from Asida zone.

In the early morning of Wednesday April 17th, soldiers from the Israeli Occupation Forces entered the village of Beit Ommar. At 2.30 a.m., they surrounded the house of Mohammed Ahmad Abu Maria and his family.

The soldiers searched Mohammed’s house for two hours and destroyed many household items belonging to the family. After the search, the soldiers beat Mohammed before they arrested him.

Mohammed is only twenty-two years old, but has already spent three years and two months in Israeli prisons. He was released from prison two months ago and had just recently applied to continue his university studies at Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron.

14-Year Old Prisoner Released, Happy to be Back with His Family

14-Year old Nassim Abu Maria was released late Sunday 14th of April after spending 4 ½ months in Ofer Prison, which is located between Jerusalem and Ramallah. He was arrested during a surprise night raid and it was his first time in prison. During the night raid, soldiers came to his house unexpectedly at 3 am and he was told that he was being arrested because the soldiers possessed photos of him throwing stones. He was blindfolded, handcuffed and taken into custody. After ten court appearances, the soldiers were unable to bring forward the photos they allegedly possessed of Abu Maria’s stone throwing, yet, he was still sentenced to prison, without any evidence of his alleged political activity.

Former Hunger Striker Arrested Once Again

Tha’er Halahlah, the famous Palestinian (former) hunger striker, has once again been arrested by the Israeli Occupation Forces.

Halahlah participated in a hunger strike in protest of his administrative detention, without charge and trial, by the Israeli Occupation Forces. After 77 days without food, he was finally released on the 5th of June, 2012. He had been imprisoned for almost three years.

Halahlah has previously told PSP that by his 60th day without food, he had began to believe he would die, and by his 70th day, he had lost hope that he would ever see his family again. On Wednesday 7th of November at 3 a.m. Israeli occupation forces raided the village of Beit Ommar. Approximately fifty soldiers arrived in five jeeps and one van to transport prisoners.

Two youth of Beit Ommar were arrested; Mutazem Ibrahim Ikhlayl (20) and Mohammed Nasser Ikhlayl (19). Both of them have been arrested before. The prisoners were taken to the military base in Gush Etzion.

A Mother’s Story

Mohammed, Khatab and Raneem had been missing their father while he was away from home. Now that he was home they finally had a rare chance to play games together, talk about the celebration of Eid, what they did at school and to eat a family dinner together. The children could go to bed with smiles on their faces. Their nice dreams abruptly turned into a nightmare.

Occupation Forces Demolish Parts of a House During Night Raid

On Tuesday 30th of October at 1.30 a.m. Israeli occupation forces invaded the village of Beit Ommar. One hundred soldiers with ten jeeps and a bulldozer laid siege to the home of Waheed Abu Maria.

When the occupation forces arrived, they fired live ammunition, sound grenades and tear gas at the house of Waheed and the neighborhood. The tear gas got into the surrounding houses where children were trying to sleep.
