Occupation Forces Attack Funeral Procession in Beit Ommar

On 10th of October a funeral procession burying the late Ihmid Abu Maria was attacked by Israeli soldiers. The cemetery in the village has been closed off by the Israelis for years. Large, heavy stones are partly blocking the entrance to the burial site.

As the mourners, this morning, tried to enter the cemetery occupation soldiers attacked the civilians with tear gas, sound grenades and rubber bullets. Some of the people were suffocating from inhaling gas.

Palestinians Injured as Funeral Attacked by Soldiers

Further unrest took place in Beit Ommar yesterday, with occupation forces deploying riot control weaponry and injuring a number of Palestinians.
On the morning of September 11th 2012, local residents attempted to open the gates of Beit Ommar’s cemetery for the funeral of Maram Mohamed Mohsen Zaqiq, a twelve year old child who recently lost her battle against cancer. Israeli Soldiers Interrupt Funeral with Tear Gas, Close Entrance to Beit Ommar

On June 17, Israeli soldiers interrupted a funeral by throwing tear gas canisters all over the surrounding region. Eventually the tear gas started a fire near three homes and grape and olive fields. Several Beit Ommar residents and a fire truck with high-pressure hoses
spent over a half and hour working to put out the fire. The soldiers then closed the
entrance to Beit Ommar and did not allow anyone in or out of the village. When one Beit
Ommar resident tried to return home through the main entrance, a soldier screamed at
him and shoved a gun in the car window, threatening … Continue reading
