Jawaher Abu Rahmah, 36, was evacuated to the Ramallah hospital yesterday after inhaling massive amounts of tear-gas during the weekly protest in Bil’in, and died of poisoning this morning. Abu Rahmah was the sister of Bassem Abu Rahmah who was also killed during a peaceful protest in Bil’in in 2009.
Doctors at the Ramallah hospital fought for Jawaher Abu Rahmah’s life all night at the Ramallah Hospital, but were unable to save her life. Abu Rahmah suffered from severe asphyxiation caused by tear-gas inhalation yesterday in Bil’in, and was evacuated to the Ramallah hospital unconscious. She was diagnosed as suffering from poisoning caused by the active ingredient in the tear-gas, and did not respond to treatment.

Palestinian medical sources in the southern West Bank city of Hebron reported Friday morning that two Palestinians were killed and ten others were wounded after the army invaded the city, surrounded a house of a resistance fighter and fired mortars at it. Shortly after midnight, at least 40 military vehicles and armored bulldozers invaded Jawhar Mountain in Hebron while several army choppers fired flares. Troops then surrounded a three-story home and started demolishing it.
Local sources reported that the surrounded building is owned by Radwan Rajabi, Saadi Borqan and Ayyoub Gheith.According to the military, resistance fighters barricaded themselves in the building and refused to surrender. Today, Israel released what it claimed to be the audio of a conversation between Israeli naval vessels and the Turkish-owned ship Mavi Marmara which occurred prior to the Israeli assault that killed at least 9 passengers and injured dozens more in the early hours of 31 May in international waters in the eastern Mediterranean. This audio clip, which the Israelis titled “Radio Transmission from Mavi Marmara to Israeli Navy” appears to be fabricated.

(1st June 2010, 3pm) Yesterday’s Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in which up to 19 human rights activists were murdered in international waters has not deterred the Irish cargo ship the MV Rachel Corrie which is currently en route to Gaza and hopes to arrive this Saturday. Meanwhile the fall-out from the attack has pressured Egypt into opening the Rafah Crossing.
In the Dail, an all party motion which calls upon the government to ensure the safe passage of the MV Rachel Corrie and calls for the blockade of Gaza to be lifted is expected to be passed at around 7pm this evening. The IPSC welcomes this motion and hopes the Israeli government … Continue reading

Israel has started releasing some of the 700 passengers it captured after troops stormed a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
Turkey has sent three planes, including two military ambulance aircraft, to bring its nationals home.
Six Greek activists returned to Athens after being expelled from Israel, and a former US ambassador who was also on the ship was on a flight home.

Update 10 pm: All boats have been brought into Ashdod port. At least 32 activists from boats other than the Mavi Marara have been detained. A U.S. citizen was shot in the head with a tear gas canister at a demonstration at the Qalandiya checkpoint in the West Bank against the flotilla attack. She has reportedly lost an eye.

A second teen, 19 year-old Useid Qaddus, died early Sunday morning after being shot in the head with live ammunition during a demonstration in Iraq Burin, Nablus region, on Saturday. Mohammed Qaddus, 16, was killed after being shot in the heart on the same day. Though the Israeli military officially denied using live ammunition, photographs of entry and exit wounds in Mohammed, taken by a B’tselem field worker, as well as x-rays obtained from the hospital for both youth clearly identify a live bullet lodged in the skull of Useid and wounds that could only be caused by live ammunition.

Mohammed Qadus, 16, was shot in the chest and killed by Israeli forces in his home village of Iraq Burin, south of Nablus, during a demonstration Friday. Red Crescent medics reported that he was taken by private car to a hospital after their ambulance was detained by Israeli forces. Qadus was killed for participating in a demonstration that has become a weekly occurrence in this small village, protesting the presence of right-wing illegal Israeli settlements and the attempted expansion of those settlements on Iraq Burin’s land.
Another 16 year old was seriously wounded when he was shot in the head, also reportedly with live ammunition.

The recent Army arrests of five young men in Beit Ommar have re-infected festering wounds among the families of the village. For the Abu Ayyesh family the arrests of two sons Mohammed, 24, and Thaer, 19, come on top of the October death of their brother Mehdi, 17. In March 2009, Mahdi was shot in the head from less than 20 metres while shopping for a falafel sandwich during an Israeli army incursion. The army is reported to have delayed calling for medical help and then set up a checkpoint to further prevent the ambulance from reaching critically injured Mehdi. 27 pieces of metal were discovered in Mehdi’s head and he died without regaining consciousness in October, 2009. … Continue reading

Today, October 12, 2009, Mehdi Sa’id Abu Ayyesh finally succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in Hebron. He was shot in the head with live ammunition, believed by his doctors to have been a .22 caliber bullet fired with a ruger rifle, which the Israeli military insists is “non-lethal”, on the evening of March 4, 2009 outside his home during an Israeli military invasion. Israeli forces said he threw rocks at them.
