International Activists Join Demonstrators in Beit Ommar

22th October 2011: Accompanied by a big crowd of international and Israeli activists and residents of Beit Ommar, PSP had a peaceful demonstration towards the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur.

The internationals carried slogans for “justice,” “freedom for all”, and “dignity for the Palestinians”.
Slogans supporting freedom for the prisoners and the occupation were also present.
Speeches were held in Arabic, English and French.

PSP has started to give tours in the West Bank


Palestine Solidarity Project has now started to give tours.

The Solidarity tour programme offers an introduction to the different geographical and cultural regions of the West Bank. Demonstration in Beit Ommar in Solidarity with the Striking Prisoners


15th October 2011: Residents of Beit Ommar accompanied with sympatizers from other villages and internationals arranged a peaceful demonstration against the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur.
The demonstrators went all the way up to the fence on the nothwestern side of the settlement, where they were stopped by soldiers.

The soldiers advanced on the demonstrators who had to retreat. One of the demonstrators was pushed to ground, and injured his arm.

Soldiers Threaten to Use Sound Bombs in Beit Ommar

Today PSP joined the weekly demonstration in Beit Ommar.Residents of Beit Ommar walked towards the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur. About 20 soldiers had blocked the road and did not allow the demonstrators to continue to their fields.

Different entries where tried but soldiers blocked and finally threatened to use sound bombs. After some confrontations the demonstrators decided to retreat.

French Solidarity Activists Visit Beit Ommar

This week a group of visitors from a catholic organization in France visited Beit Ommar and Center for Freedom and Justice. PSP arranged a guided tour and explained the local situation to their interested guests, as well as the five illegal settlements that surround Beit Ommar.

Beit Ommar Demonstration – 1st October 2011

Saturday 1st October 2011: The weekly demonstration in Beit Ommar was peaceful. Residents from Beit Ommar marched through their own fields near the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur, accompanied by many internationals and Israeli activists.

The demonstrators were stopped by approximately 20 soldiers and several milliary jeeps.

The demonstrators carried banners in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, and encouraged countries to vote for justice, freedom, and a Palestine state 194.

PSP Farmer Accompaniment Program Begins

This week PSP began its annual farmer accompaniment program. Around dawn, international activists joined Beit Ommar farmers in harvesting grapes on land close to the illegal settlement of Kfar Etzion. In a busy but sucessful morning, volunteers assisted the famrers in picking and packing over fifty crates of grapes, which will be sold through the local farmers’ market.

Such accompaniments are neccessary as Beit Ommar farmers face the constant threat of harassment and violence from setllers and the Israeli military. Settlers regularly attack famrers trying to work in fields close to the five … Continue reading

Beit Ommar Demonstrates in Support of UN Statehood Bid

17th September: Residents of Beit Ommar were joined by Palestinians from across the West Bank, Israelis, and international activists for their weekly demonstration at the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur.

Around 70 demonstrators marched from the center of the town, carrying flags of various UN member states alongside those of Palestine, and the Libyan Revolution. Protesters from Beit Ommar were joined by Palestinian activists from Al Arub refugee camp, Hebron, Yatta, and Ramallah, who chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian bid for statehood.

Settlers Destroy Beit Ommar Farmer’s Crops

This morning, Beit Ommar farmers arrived at their lands to discover that large areas of grape vines had been attacked by settlers from the illegal settlement of Karmei Tsur. The farmers immediately notified Mahmoud Ahmad Coql, who owns the destroyed fields.

In total, the settlers severed two dunums (two thousand square meters) of Mahmoud’s grape vines in fields near the illegal Karmei Tsur settlement.

Israeli authorities and the Israeli civilian police – upon seeing a number of Palestinians, press, and international activists – soon arrived on the scene accompanied by roughly twenty-five soldiers.
