Three Youths Arrested During Night Raid

At 3am on the morning of July 10, 2012, Israeli soldiers entered Beit Ommar from Karmei Tsur settlement (South of Beit Ommar). They went to the area near where the weekly Beit Ommar demonstration is held, checked houses and made three arrests:

Ibrahim Yusuf Sabarna, 19
Mohab Ibrahim Bahar, 19
Jehad Halawe, 14

Arresting and detaining minors without charge is a regular occurrence used by the Israeli military to intimidate Palestinians in an attempt to stop them from trying to access their land & ultimately migrate.

Four Beit Ommar Residents Arrested During Night Raid

On April 23, 2012, at about 3:00 am, Israeli soldiers broke into the house of Ahmad Abu Hashem, a member of the Popular Committee of Beit Ommar, for the second time in a week. This time they arrested his 15-year-old son Mohamad Ahmad Khalil Abu Hashem. In total, four people were arrested during the raid last night. Three of them are under the age of 18. Those arrested were:

Mohamad Ahmad Khalil Abu Hashem, 15 years old.
Tareq Jamal Khalil Abu Maria, 17 years old.
Badran Jalal Badran Abu Ayash, 15 years old.
Wahed Hamdi Abu Maria, 44 years old.

Three Arrested During Night Raid in Beit Ommar

Last night, at 3am on Thursday, April 19, 2012, yet another night raid occurred in Beit Ommar. Israeli soldiers broke into the house of Ahmad Abu Hashem, a member of the Popular Committee of Beit Ommar. The soldiers have a way of breaking a door lock without making any noise, so that the residents can’t hear them coming. Ahmad’s small children woke up and saw the soldiers, and began crying in fear. Yousef Abu Hashem, Ahmad’s 19-year-old son who was released from prison two weeks ago, began to argue with the soldiers, telling them to leave. On Sunday, March 11th, 2012, Israeli forces entered Beit Ommar and arrested four youths during a night raid. Those arrested were:

Bilal Mahmoud Awad, age 15
Amer Shawkat Alqam, age 16
Ahmad Isa Saleiby, age 16
Mohamad Jewdat Ady, age 14

Night raids are a frequent occurrence in Beit Ommar, to create fear in the community and to discourage people from resisting the occupation. Residents of Beit Ommar are frequently arrested with no charges held against them, and usually have to pay fines between 1000 and 4000 shekels in order to be released.
