Beit Ommar is a small town (population 18,000) located in the Hebron District of the occupied West Bank, approximately 11kms north of the city of Hebron. Israeli forces occupied the town in 1967, and since then, residents have suffered from the pressures of the occupation. The main road leading into the village has a permanent watchtower guarded by the Israeli military.
Despite the oppressive presence of an occupying army, Beit Ommar villagers have a strong history of popular resistance, with active participation from the area during both the first and second intifadas. Today, Beit Ommar is famous for its regular demonstrations and its ongoing resistance.

In the night of the 15th August to 16th August, the Israeli army has conducted a new operation in the center of Beit Ommar. The incursion of the IDF happened around two o’clock in the morning, during which it burst into several homes, terrorized families and arrested young people – Hmza Abo Hasham (18 years old) and Rashed Adel Salbey, student at the Hebron University (18 years old).

For the second week running Beit Jala marched in protest at the building of Israel’s annexation wall through Palestinian land. Israeli soldiers responded with powerful tear gas and stun grenades.
The Israeli military was waiting as the 200-strong group of men, women and children gathered in the Christian village next to Bethlehem. While a Jerusalem member of the clergy was speaking to TV crews and cameras, soldiers were occupying the roof of a Palestinian home – opposite builders trying to work at the top of a nearby house.

Even his funeral was attacked, The Funeral of Falah Abu Maria (52 years old) who was killed Thursday 23 July at 3:00 inside his house and in front of his family in cold blood by Zionist occupation forces. Zionist occupation forces again attacked the funeral with hundreds of tear gas canisters 300 meters before the cemetery, only few people succeeded to reach the cemetery and bury the martyr.

Two jeeps and one large car and a large group of soldiers made an incursion into Beit Ummar tonight. In the beginning they were stopped near Mousa Maria’s house. He was sleeping when he started to hear shouts, noises. He woke up as he heard a soldier punch the door. Opening the window Mousa then heard the sound of the jeeps. Direct aiming of tear gas canisters continues to put lives at risk, despite military’s denials
Last Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013, Muhmmad ‘Awad (Abu Ahmad), a B’Tselem volunteer videographer, and a resident of Beit Ummar, documented clashes between Palestinian youth and soldiers near the entrance to the town. The first video he shot depicts the soldiers standing by a jeep, and a stone landing near them. An officer is then seen firing several tear gas canisters from a “Ringo” type launcher, to the area of the stone throwers, in a position behind and to the right of the cameraman. Late at night on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, Israeli Forces arrested two brothers on the main street adjacent to the village of Beit Ommar in the Hebron district of the southern West Bank. The brothers, Bader, age 17, and Mohammed age 13, Ali Abu Maria are residents of the village. Israeli Forces in jeeps entered an area near the entrance of the village off of Route 60, the main Jerusalem-Hebron road and arrested the younger brother.

As Palestinians across Palestine took to the streets in a day for Al Quds (Jerusalem), the capital of Palestine, residents of Hebron stood firm against attacks by the Israeli rmy. A number of young Palestinians were injured as the army opened fire with live ammunition against unarmed protestors.
As in previous days, clashes between Palestinian youths and the army focussed in the middle of the city, as camp the refugee camp in the east of the city. A young child, Musab, was hit in the eye and was transferred for treatment in a hospital in Jerusalem.

On the 13th of May 2013 at 3:30am, a military force about fourteen soldiers stormed the area of Abu Hashem’s family, they searched the area by dogs for more one hour, after that the moved to the down town, while they moving before trapping the house of the former Mayor Nasri Sabarna they were shooting fire, tear gas and sound bombs.

On Friday 10th of May 2013, twenty people were injured in a clashes in the town of Beit Ommar between the IOF and the people of Beit Ommar, including two head injury and three injury moved to the hospital in Hebron, seventeen of them were treated in the field.
