Non-violent Activists Attacked by Soldiers Shooting Tear Gas

Today PSP, the Popular Committee of Beit Ommar and Youth Power of Palestine organised an action in the village of Beit Ommar. PSP and the Popular Committee have been organising weekly demonstrations for years.

The Palestinian, Israeli and International activists gathered outside of Karme Tzure settlement, south of the centre of Beit Ommar. The activists wanted to get as close to the fence to the settlement as possible, to demonstrate their right to walk on their own land.

As soon as the demonstrators had arrived in the area, the soldiers started shooting tear gas straight towards the non-violent … Continue reading

On the morning 10th of April Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian land in Saffa, a part of Beit Ommar village. Saffa often experience attacks like this. The settlers in question lives in the close by settlement called Bayt Ayin which is a part of the bigger Gush Eztion bloc. The settlers living in Bayt Ayin are known to be very aggressive and violent.

This morning the settlers cut olive trees in the Palestinian fields. They managed to cut dozens of trees. The land owner came to the scene and ended up being beaten by the settlers.

This incident was unfortunately not an isolated one. Both Palestinian land and people are attacked daily by settlers, throughout the West Bank.

Apartheid Wall, Direct Action »

18 Jan 2013

Friday morning, as most of the Israeli military in the Occupied West Bank were focused on regular weekly demonstrations, residents from Beit Iksa, a small village northwest of Jerusalem, were quietly setting up another protest village, similar to Bab Al Shams which was built east of Jerusalem last week.
Beit Iksa has lost almost all of their agricultural and historic land, beginning in 1948 to the annexation of “greater Jerusalem”, to the construction of the Apartheid Wall as well as to settlements which almost completely surround them. On one of their last stretches of land, locals and supporters erected a mosque and tents in an area adjacent to the Apartheid Wall. Over 100 participants gathered, held Friday prayers in … Continue reading

PSP Activists Join New Village Bab Al Shams

In the early morning hours of Friday, January 11, a group of Palestinians, coordinated by the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee, gathered in an area east of Jerusalem referred to as the E-1 corridor, and quickly erected a tent village. E-1 is one of the most strategic areas in the West Bank. Several Israeli regimes have announced plans to build a settlement there, which would effectively cut the West Bank in half. On Friday, a few months after current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his plans for building a Jewish-only community in E-1, Palestinians decided to take the matter into their own hands. Within hours, over 200 Palestinians were staying in the community, named Bab Al … Continue reading

Israel Refuses to Prosecute Settler as Attacks Continue in Beit Ommar Area

Two days ago, on January 6th, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the Jerusalem District Attorney had decided not to move forward with the prosecution of an Israeli settler who threw a firebomb into a Palestinian taxi north of Beit Ommar last August, which severely wounded 6 occupants, including children. They decided to close the case even though DNA evidence was found on a glove at the crime scene. It is yet one more example of the Israeli government’s unwillingness to prosecute settlers for their crimes, leading these right-wing settlers to attack and vandalize Palestinian property with increasing frequency.

On January 1, 2013, two elderly … Continue reading

Greetings from Occupied Palestine.

As many know, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire with the resistance in Gaza on Friday. Reports from Palestinian and international human rights organizations say that in the 8 day offensive, 173 Palestinians were killed, at least 67% of which were civilians. Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli soldiers, 1 in Nabi saleh, Ramallah District and 1 in Hebron City, at unarmed demonstrations in the West Bank in support of Gaza. A baby also died as a result of the Israeli invasion of his village in Ramallah District.

Palestine Solidarity Project tried to keep people updated on Gaza news as it came out via twitter. We will be compiling those tweets into a … Continue reading
